The study was conducted at PT. Alam Semesta Success in Coal which is engaged in mining. The quality of coal is measured by carrying out the process of testing the coal sample starting from sampling. The research method used is the proximate method, which in this method can determine the moisture content (moisture), flying substances (volatile), ash content (ash) and solid carbon (fixed carbon). To determine the content of the chemical elements in coal do the proximate method. The total moisture value in the mining front is 46.05% the Ash Content value in the stockpile is 39.92%. The difference in parameters from the mining front and stockpiles that changed exceeding the threshold, namely: Total Moisture decreased by 6.13%, Ash content increased by 3.61%Fixed Carbon value in the mining front of 37.75%, total sulfur value In stockpiles of 0.23%, the calcific value of the mining front is 3527 Cal/G (AR), the Carorific
Value value on the stockpile is 3769 Cal/G (AR). The most dominant parameters undergoing changes but are still within the threshold, namely: Fixed Carbon experienced an increase of 0.56%, total sulfur increased by 0.05%, Calorific Value increased by 242cal/g (AR). Efforts that can be made to maintain the quality of coal are avoiding mining when the soil conditions are still wet after rain. This will cause sticky material on the dum truck. The existence of a drainage system can maintain the quality of coal from standing water in stockpile.
