This study examines the design of the Medan History Museum using a symbolic architecture approach, aimed at representing the historical journey of the city of Medan as well as the struggles of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in the area. The 150 × 80-meter site is optimally utilized to accommodate the museum’s main functions, including exhibition spaces, educational rooms, and other supporting facilities. The methodology involves on-site surveys to identify the site’s potential and challenges, literature studies to strengthen theoretical foundations and design concepts, comparative studies of several museums with similar themes, consultations with academic supervisors to guide idea development, and continuous evaluations until the final design. The results show that the application of symbolism in the building mass form, façade elements, and spatial layout successfully creates an emotional connection between visitors and the history being presented. The study also highlights the need for additional specific references and broader comparative studies to enrich design alternatives. With this approach, the museum is expected to function not only as a venue for displaying collections but also as an educational medium and a means of fostering historical awareness among the public.
Arnold Nicholas, Isniar TL Ritong, Paterson HP Sibaran Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Ruang Luar dan Dalam https://ejurnal.istp.ac.id/index.php/jrld/article/view/504 Mon, 15 Sep 2025 00:00:00 +0700 TRANSFORMASI INTERIOR GEREJA MISI INJILI INDONESIA ANUGERAH DI MEDAN TEMA MODERN https://ejurnal.istp.ac.id/index.php/jrld/article/view/500
The interior transformation of GMII Anugerah Church in Medan aims to renew the worship space in line with modern design trends while preserving its sacred character. One of the cultural diversity that Indonesia has is culture in the arts, including music, dance and theatre. Music and theatre performing arts can also be an interesting alternative in studying history. Most Indonesians fill their free time by watching art performances, one of witch is music and theatre performances. Many artists in the fields of music and theatre in Indonesia, especially in the city of Medan, are unable to channel their talent and works to a large audience due to the lack of these fascilities. Therefore, the design of the Musci dan Theatre Performace Building is designed to provide a platform for music and theatre artists to channel their talents and become a forum for the nation’s childern who are interested in studying music and theatre arts to develop their abilities and preserve culture. This art is mainly Indonesia traditional art. The neoclassical style was chosen for its characteristics of symmetry, elegance, and luxury, which remain relevant in the context of modern design. Medan, as one of the major property growth centers in Indonesia, shows an increasing demand for upper-middle-class housing that requires a representative interior design approach. The method used in this research is a qualitative-descriptive approach, including literature review, observation, spatial needs analysis, design concept development, and design visualization. The design process focuses on neoclassical interior elements and principles, adapted to the character of urban housing in Medan. Color themes, material selection, furniture forms, lighting, and spatial layout are developed to create a luxurious, balanced, and visually as well as functionally comfortable living room. The result of this research is a living room interior design concept that integrates classical elements with modern housing needs, producing a space that is aesthetic, proportional, and aligned with current trends and the needs of today’s urban society.
michael saputra purba, Syafiz Harsono, Emir Haris Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Ruang Luar dan Dalam https://ejurnal.istp.ac.id/index.php/jrld/article/view/501 Mon, 15 Sep 2025 00:00:00 +0700 EVALUASI KINERJA ALAT GALI MUAT DAN ALAT ANGKUT DALAM MENDUKUNG TARGET PRODUKSI DI CV. The IUP land area is 14 hectares, but intensive exploration is being conducted on an area of 8.12 hectares. Problems encountered in the mining process include the low production capacity of the current mechanical equipment due to reduced effective working time, resulting in decreased equipment efficiency due to work bottlenecks and inconsistencies in the established scheduling system. Problem solving is carried out based on analysis of data obtained in the field based on literature related to the problem. The results of the study found that the crushed stone mining carried out by CV. Tapian Nauli Malau uses 1 unit of Komatsu PC 200 Exavator Loading and Digging equipment, while the transport equipment uses 4 units of the Cunter 125 PS Dump Truck type. Before the improvement, the productivity bottleneck time of the Exavator was 24,520.50 tons/month and the transport equipment was 18,890.63 tons/month, with a match factor of the loading and digging equipment of 0.84. After improvements were made to the bottleneck time and cycle time of the transport equipment, an increase in the working hours of the transport equipment was obtained which was very effective in achieving production targets, actual working hours were 172.47 hours/month and after improvements to 187.2 hours/month, so that work productivity increased by 26,643.95 tons/month. The company's production target is 20,000 tons/month. Production before the repair was 18,890.63 tons/month. After the repair, production increased to 26,643.9 tons/month, a 41.04% increase.
DTM. Mufty Al Qaeda Elsyaf, Analiser Halawa, Nalom D.
