Abstract

According to Koesnaryo. S., (2001) A blasting operation is declared successful if fragmentation of even size is obtained with a few boulders (less than 15% of the amount of rock uncovered per blast). PT. Hanesa Prima Teknikarya experienced a problem where the distribution of fragmentation of blasting results was not in accordance with the company's target, which was >60 cm maximum as much as 15%.  The purpose of this study is to determine the detonation geometry that is inaccordance with field conditions in order to obtain a fragmentation size ofblasting results that meet the company's target. The method carried out in this research is an applied research method, which is a research activity carried out to apply, test, and evaluate the ability of a theory to solve a problem. Actual data is taken directly such as blasting geometry and fragmentation results which are then processed using desktop split software. Then provide recommendations for new blasting geometries using the R. L. Ash method. The actual fragmentation measure of the average blasting result in the geometry used by the company obtained a material value of 60 sieve pass as much as 66.07% and did not pass as much as 33.93%. While the actual fragmentation measure of the blasting results from the recommended geometry with the calculation of R. L. Ash obtained a sieve 60 pass result of 89.46% and did not pass as much as 10.54%. With these results, the blasting was declared successful and met the company's target.
