Abstract

Along with the improvement of Health and social facilities and services, the number and proportion of the elderly population (elderly) continues to increase. Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs No. 60 of 2008 on guidelines for the establishment of regional commissions (Komda) for the elderly and Community Empowerment in the handling of the elderly in the region. Handling of the elderly based on Law No. 13 of 1998 article 5 Paragraph 2 explains that as a tribute and appreciation to the elderly is given the right to increase social welfare .Education actually starts from an early age to adulthood, in Islam there is a term education starts from birth to mininggal world or other terms are (lifelong education) “long life education” and “long life learning” (lifelong learning). Seeing this, it is clear that education does not stop until the individual becomes an adult, but continues throughout his life. The Islamic concept of lifelong education is based on Commandments. Allah (SWT) and The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) made it obligatory for Muslims to seek knowledge. 1. Lack of religious education institutions that provide services for the elderly (elderly) in Medan 2. Lack of facilities that can support the activities of the elderly in accordance with the behavior of the elderly. 3. Lack of interest of ordinary people and the elderly themselves to boarding schools that provide services for the elderly.
